Modifying Willem 3.0 to program 2732 with vpp = 25V
Hi,
I'd like to program a 2732 EPROM with my Willem 3.0, but I've read this won't work because the Willem can't output the high 25V vpp. Does anyone have instructions to modify it to do this?
Also, right now VPP and VCC seem to read the same, and are dependent on whatever power source I've using. If I use USB power, they both read about 5V. If I use my 12V DC adapter, they both read about 11V. Is that a problem that the modifications will fix?
I'm not 100% I have a 3.0, so I'm uploading a picture. Can someone confirm it's a Willem 3.0?

Re: Modifying Willem 3.0 to program 2732 with vpp = 25V
It looks like user DL from the old Willem forum had a good solution, anyone know if he's still around on these new forums?
Re: Modifying Willem 3.0 to program 2732 with vpp = 25V
What software version do you use? Try to use Version 0.97ja
What is your chip number exactly?
Have you checked its data sheet?
I checked M2732A datasheet and it seems it needs 5v --> VCC / 21v --> VPP for programming. If you set the right settings for your programmer I think you can program it.
You have to use 12v DC Adapter NOT USB.

Re: Modifying Willem 3.0 to program 2732 with vpp = 25V
I'm using version 0.97ja, using a 12V supply. The chip is a 2732, which takes 25V vpp.
I'm not even trying to program it yet, I'm just testing my WIllem with the Test H/W function. So far it's not working, both VCC and VPP are about the same regardless of jumper settings. Any other ideas?

Re: Modifying Willem 3.0 to program 2732 with vpp = 25V
set VCC jamper to 5.6 or 6.2 then use USB

What? I need 25V to program this chip. USB won't work.Farid писал(а):set VCC jamper to 5.6 or 6.2 then use USB
Re: Modifying Willem 3.0 to program 2732 with vpp = 25V
Some rules.
1) power supply only external , 9-12V >400mA. No USB connected.
2) change coil (resistor type) to coil with saturation current >500mA, sample attached
3) change programmer both voltage switch transistors from BC557 to BC327
4) for 2732 apply Vcc=5 Vpp=25V. SW select 2732, change twp from 1.2ms to 10ms

It is generic old willem pcb3b with dual power modify. Apply SW 0.97ja .I'm not 100% I have a 3.0, so I'm uploading a picture.

Thanks! I'll order the new parts today. Do you know where on the board the old BC557's are located?

2 nearest transistors left from 34063Do you know where on the board the old BC557's are located?
Re: Modifying Willem 3.0 to program 2732 with vpp = 25V
I've replaced the transistors and inductor, but it doesn't seem to be working right
No matter what the parallel settings, the green and red LEDs are always on. Did I put the transistors in the correct way? I put the flat part facing up, just like the old ones, however the silkscreen kinda looks like the flat part should be on the bottom.

Re: Modifying Willem 3.0 to program 2732 with vpp = 25V
I went ahead and flipped the transistors, and replaced the other two nearby with BC327 in the other orientation. This fixed the VPP and VCC lights. They turn on and off normally, and i get 25V for VPP.
Also VCC was still 11V, regardless of the jumper settings. I replaced the 7805, and now VCC is correct, selectable by jumpers.
But now the software won't detect the WIllem. It says "Hardware Error: Check power & connection". A "Verify Blank" works fine though. I haven't changed any settings on my parallel port, and this used to work fine for reading.

Seems programmer logic IC damaged.Also VCC was still 11V, regardless of the jumper settings. I replaced the 7805, and now VCC is correct, selectable by jumpers.
What are Test H/W results ?
Check boxes one by one and measure voltage on related ZIF32 pin

I measured the voltages in test mode.
Most were normal at about 4.3V, but some weren't:
0V:
A13, OE
3V:
A9
3.5:
D1
3.8V
CE
Do you know what chip might be bad?

Re: Modifying Willem 3.0 to program 2732 with vpp = 25V
have a look at these ;
0V:
A13, OE --> U5b , cd4015 pin 4 // U12 pin2
3V:
A9 --> U5a , cd4015 pin12
3.5:
D1 --> U1 , cd4014 pin6
3.8V
CE --> vcc1 , verify icsp connector pin 2 from top should be the same voltage

What chips are these? There's multiple 40145s and they're not labeled on my board.techy писал(а):have a look at these ;
