Hi there

I have a willem pcb50 programmer.Am29f800bt chip from VW Passat ecu.Soldared in adapter ID was ok.

Then i read the chip-----ok.
Write chip----------------ok.
Verify---------------------ok.
Then ERASE CHIP--------OK.

After erase no more valid ID.I still can read the chip getting all FFFFF.Blank check-----its empty.

Then i soldered 1 new am29f400 and ID is ok.Can write read,verify.


So: 1.Can it be to erase ID?How to get it back?
2.Do i have to erase a chip before write tunned file or will it be overvritten?

ID cannot be erased. Recheck chip pin contacts.

Erase chip before write new one.

Soldered again and no ID.

Ok now i will try to erase the 29f400 and we will see if the ID stays.

Seems like the am29f800 is fault.With Am29f400 everything ok---can erase and write with no problems.


Another thing:When i write back the tunned file there is a option at the right says Skipp write 0xFF.This must be enabled or not?

Result should be the same
Enabled - byte write skipped, directly to verify (erased chip has all 0xFF)
Not enabled - fullfill byte 0xFF write, then verify.
You can win a bit programming time if source file partly with content data
