Hi Ezo!! :D

I'm trying to program this chip. The preparations are as follows:

- Adapter TSOP40-A3
- In software selected MBM29F008X
- Selected pins: 2,5
- ID 0xC2 -- MXIC (MACRONIX)
0x37 -- MX29LV008B
- Erase chip: 8 sec.
- Blanck Check: Device is NOT EMPTY ($000000)

Can you give some idea?

As always, Thank you very much. :)

PS. This chip is solded in a notebook ACER ASPIRE 5630. Could use another chip eg, SST39VF080 for this model laptop? Would it be compatible?

Chip has protected bottom boot sector. Use activ SW option "Temporary sector unprotect" for erase and programming actions.

No. You should use sector compatible chip, for example AM29LV008B/BB, Fujitsu 29LV008B/BA, M29W008B/AB/DB/EB

Hi All

Sorry for replying to an old thread but thought I'd share my experience about in-circuit flashing this chip..

I also found this thread which helped me a lot.:

I built my own adapter and successfully recovered the BIOS. As I have no experience in desoldering/soldering TSOP chips, I opted for the in-system flashing. I took some pictures of the adapter, please have a look at this album:

The hardest thing was to lift 3 pins off the board as was suggested. You need a good scalpel.
The SMT breakout board and the board-to-board connectors were bought online for a few pounds. It was good fun building it and a good feeling when the laptop powered up again for the first time.

Good luck with your fixing.
