PIC willem pcb 5.0, need it very bad
Hi everyone.
new here, just have some questions.... would appreciate answering in details.
I bought a willem double powered programmer on ebay, it manufactured in china by some TH....... company or person!
My intension from the begining was to program a AMIC A29040AL/70 PLCC 32 bioschip from Fujitsu siemens AMILO D8830. As i read on the obj description the chips which was supported was AMIC A29040A and told by some tech guy that it would work with my chip.
The thing is that the item can ID the device, read ok, erase ok, verify ok and burn exactly to 50% and then i get errors saying error at 0x04000 chip=A0, buffer=20. by the way that error is one of the examples that im getting , i mean it might get missmatch at another line near that area.
i was successfuly able with this item to burn variuos other chips from SST, PMC, winbond, AMD and all of them are plcc32 using the plcc socket or the FWH one as the device indicats.
I'm clueless here so any help would be appreciated.
Is there any chance that this item can program the AMIC chip? how( gladley in details coz i'm very very green here )

Check jumper left from dipswitch panel (should be on top).and burn exactly to 50% and then i get errors saying error at 0x04000 chip=A0, buffer=20
Check pin1 PLCC32 (A18), clean sideward.

as for the first jumper you mean is it the one beside the panel there you set some of the switchs to ON. its at the right position as the diagram shows... do you mean that i have to try to set it otherwise from the diagram?....
As for pin 1 i might say i didn't understand what you do mean... is it how i set the chip inside socket ?
PS btw i have some shematics for Willem PCB3, is it possible to put them in here or is it agiant the rules?

What is source file value at first adress 0x00000 ?
Usually error at 50% means problem on highest adress.
From logic highest adress signal pass jumper (left from dipswitch panel) and comes to ZIF32/1 and PLCC32(top socket) pin1.
Keep settings as selected for A29040 and go Test H/W. Activate/deactivate 31/A18 and measure voltage changes (5/0V) on ZIF32/1 and PLCC32/1 (middle pin in top line).
Used PLCC32 chips sometimes have no contact in socket, that's why ask clean PLCC32 chip contacts sideward softly. Attention on quality of pin1.

No.do you mean that i have to try to set it otherwise from the diagram?....
Jumper in top position provide A18 connection to flash chip pins 1. Jumper in bottom position provide Vpp connection to same pins. With activ Vpp chip can be damaged.
PCB3B schematic is well known. Sometimes programmer pictures help to explain problem. Here is no specific rules of attachments, should be related to programmer area.PS btw i have some shematics for Willem PCB3, is it possible to put them in here or is it agiant the rules?

As for the error its at 0x040000, there was a 0 missing there.
The first value reads A0, but the strange thing that when i read chips after erase it reads only FF for all the values...... may be i was thinking wrong and its not erasing or reading the chip properly. btw the erasing process takes onlt about 5 sec anf fills up to 12 % then its clear and says erase ok.!!!!!!!
I tried wipe the pins carefully and all of them have good contacts now. the same thing still occuring with error, if i use another bios image then it might go along to value 0x0413B6 chip = 0x20, buffer =0xE8.....
is it afaulty device??
is it possible to program such a chip with this item in the first hand.

As for testing i don't have any voltmeter right now but i'll try getting one tomorrow and see.

How long and what's quality is your parallel cable ? Are you able connect programmer directly to PC port ?

my cable is 1 m long, and yes i already tried direct connect to pc with same errors.
i tried to burn the bios image to av Eon EN29F040A which just stops at 49-50% and nothing happens then.... no errors nor further progress , it just stops there. I think its the same value it stops at as i get errors with Amic A29F040AL.
i still dont have the tools to test the voltage atA18=31 yet.
Do you think its some hardware installation error or something that not soldered properly.
i hope you dont mind me asking too much....

Try erase/blank check/program/read/verify with selected Am29F020. If process here without problems we have to stay on A18 issue only.

As for Am29F020 everything goes fine. as it does for every device with highest value 0x03FFFF.
SO
Trying to get a voltmeter but can you show me some images how an where to test exactly.... i have no idea.

SW has option Test H/W. Any click on selected frame activates parallel port signal. You are able check voltage changes on related ZIF32 pin (as PLCC32, logic IC)

by the way while trying to burn chips today and getting errors i tried to read the half flashed chip.... the thing that amazed med is that the item seems to flash at 0x000000 and 0x040000 at the same time, so while looking at the buffer its reads the same blocks again from 0x040000.
is this normal?

A18 not functional (remain log0) - buffer will get file , where second part equal to first ( twice first half chip read )
No. Here is 2 versions of checkingDO u mean that i have to put the ends of the voltmeter on pin 31 on zif and no 4 on plcc32 ?
1) keep settings as shown in Test H/W picture. Then all signals are measured according ZIF picture. This version is general programmer test
2) keep settings as selected for device (section Device). Then all signals are mesured according real chip layout. Usually most signals place are same, depending from chip type and density - particular signals are swapped. For 29F040 ZIF32/1 is A18 (instead of Vpp), ZIF32/31 is WE (instead of A18, WE is activated with 22-CE).
This version is programmer test for particular chip, to be sure all signals arrive target chip pins correctly. We are using it.
That's why my proposal - Keep settings as selected for A29040 and go Test H/W. Activate/deactivate 31/A18 and measure voltage changes (5/0V) on ZIF32/1 and PLCC32/1 (middle pin in top line).
Apply 29F040 pinout. Your pictures are different.
