Hello all,
I'm having difficulties programming an SST 49LF080A. I've been googling around and I haven't found any information that has helped.
I am able to program 6 chips that belong in the PLCC32 socket, however I can't program any of the 3 chips that belong in the FWH/LPC socket.
Does anyone have any experience with this chip? The guy who sold it to me just wants me to jump through hoops and pay to send it back for another one. I've attached the manual that was sent to me, well a PDF version of the HTML files he sent me.
I can provide any information that you may need.
This probably belongs in "Chip Programming Issues"
[EDIT]
I should mention a few other things. I'm using Software 0.98D8, I also tried the new 0.98D12C3 with little to no change, just different buffer data but same address. I also noticed that the buffer data of the chip is different every time I read it. But only slight changes, such as offset 0x000030 having different inconsistencies. IE most data are 04 although there are the odd 1D or 15, although whether it's 1D or 15 depends on the read, they are all the same for each read. Their locations change. IE sometimes it's 0x000034 or 0x000035 or 0x000038 in the 0x000030 offset.

Are you getting valid ID reply ?
Clean softly PLCC32 chips sideward.
Check chip pins from bottom side - sometimes corner pins bended.
Try lift up a bit chip in socket.
For any attempts check ID. ID OK - try other actions.

Re: SST 49LF080A Willem 5.0E
Nothing seems to work. Chip data read even seems to get dirty data randomly, although it is reading some data correctly, such as the last blocks having the ROM date. 0x0FFFF5 to 0x0FFFFC always reads 11/30/09.Are you getting valid ID reply ?
I used alcohol to clean the chip. It looks clean.Clean softly PLCC32 chips sideward.
I always check a chip when I remove it as sometimes, like you said, the extractor will bend pins.Check chip pins from bottom side - sometimes corner pins bended.
I tried this. I will try again now that I cleaned the pins with alcohol. I checked the pins in the socket with a staple on the end of a ohmmeter test lead and tested touching the actual pin to the PLCC32 socket pin and they all show 0 ohm resistance.Try lift up a bit chip in socket.
ID never works beyond getting the Manufacturer being detected as "SST/Sanyo".For any attempts check ID. ID OK - try other actions.
Does some of the socket pins have a connection to each other? IE Pin 1 and 3 have a resistance of 4.4k ohm at the socket.
Is it possible the chip is protected against writes?

What programmer target chip voltage applied ?
Is it 5V and jumper exist in position Open 3.6 ?

Please send to my mail. Indicate your HW version from programmer gallery.I've attached the manual that was sent to me, well a PDF version of the HTML files he sent me.

The picture for this product looks identical to the one I have.

I have sent you a few emails with the manual and picture I took of the programmer.
Manual is 8MB+ zip of html manual distributed with programmer on CD
Picture is 5MB+ hi-res photo

Re: SST 49LF080A Willem 5.0E
I used the test HW feature of the programmer but it seems that everything is coming back fine. I generally get 4 voltage readings on various pins. I get 12v83 on pin 1, 0v on other pins, 4v8 on some pins and 3v5 on others.
Some pins only get voltage when Vpp(pin 1) is checked.

I'm wondering if you have any ideas for this issue? I'm to the point where I think I may need a new programmer which is $50 down the drain.
Re: SST 49LF080A Willem 5.0E
Here is no info , reply result - programmer with chip, Action > Get ID..
Are you able translate Test H/W guide with voltage measure on fwh/lpc socket pins ,
topic from russian forum viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1038
Note, programmer should have 5V Vcc , set jumper Open 3.6 next to ZIF socket right top corner.
PCB50E has modification in FWH/LPC R/C pin management part . More details in next posts or mail.

Re: SST 49LF080A Willem 5.0E
Thanks Ezo! I will give it a shot. Do I test with or without a chip? I would be more inclined without a chip as who knows what random pin voltages will do, not me.
I posted a reply to that thread with the translated English from translate.google.com.

Re: SST 49LF080A Willem 5.0E
I'm doing some testing and I just want to make sure that I'm reading the proper information.
The first thing I'm to check is VCC-32 checked on it's own. I have set the switches as per the HW Test tab and I think my issues is at least partially tied to the VCC-32 pin.
When I check the box and I check pin 16 as ground, after making sure it is grounded. I get less than 1 volt and the voltage diminishes.
I will post back if I find something else.

Re: SST 49LF080A Willem 5.0E
I have 3 chips of SST 49LF080A and 2 will ID properly, although the model of the chip doesn't appear with the Device Code. I don't remember where I got the device IDs from but my chip is ID BF and the Manufacturer is BF.
Re: SST 49LF080A Willem 5.0E
It should return 0xBF SST/Sanyo 0x5B SST49LF080A
What SW do you apply, selected device ? Try adjust R/C time in SW for check ID .
