I have a question about connecting a willem to a laptop .

Has anyone ever tried to use a pcmcia-adaptercard to connect to the willem parallel port and use the programmer ??

please let me know , as those cards a quite expensive i don't want to wast my money.

i have solved this problem in a quite different way.

I bought a used docking station with a build-in parallel port .

Way cheaper than a pcmcia parallel-card ( if that would even work ).

What laptop and docking station ?
Usually laptops with pcmcia paralle port are nor willem sw compatible.

i found a used docking station WITH build in parallelport

The laptop i was referring to is a LENOVO T60WS which only has pcmcia and expresscard slots.

Becouse a pcmcia or expresscard parallelinterface are quite expensive , AND no-one had info to help me , I decided to go and search for a used docking station .

I found one on ebay at a kind of laptop-broker which sells all kind of parts for laptops only.
That campany is based in germany , so inner EU and delivers for a flat rate in germany .

I am happy with the secondhand unit , and the willem programmer is too.

Good news for all those who own laptops without Parallel port. I took a risk and bought PCI-E to Parallel port adapter with Oxford chip on ebay just for some 25 EUR. In order to make it work I used the remapped IO.dll because the Paraller port has a different, non-standard address which cannot be changed. I successfully tried to read and write few different memory chips including S29GL128P and everything worked fine. I am not going to post any links to other sites here unless I receive a consent from Egils. If somebody is interested I can share more details and the links via e-mail or here.
