Hi guys,
I am newbie here and I would to thank you for providing such a helpful information within this website.
I have a compatibility question and I thought I should ask here.
I am about to order a sivava willem programmer PCB50 + dip 42 adapter because I want to burn some eprom in order update the OS of an old discontinued synthesizer that I have.
The synthesizer uses a MSM27C802CZ-15Z (42-pin, 80ns) PROM which unfortunately is not supported by the the Willem programmer.
Is it possible to use a ST M27C800-50F1(42-pin, 50 ns) in order to burn the new os ? Willem is compatible with the 27c800 series , and from comparing the 27c800 & 27c802 they seem to be compatible, but i am not an expert in electronics so I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask in this forum.
I have noticed that the EZoFLASH can write MSM27C802CZ-15Z with the dip42a1 adapter, but unfortunately I dont have the appropriate experience to built one:(
Any help or advise about my problem would be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

MSM27C802CZ & ST M27C800 compatibility
Re: MSM27C802CZ & ST M27C800 compatibility
Yes, chips are compatible. M27C800 with window UV erasable and reprogrammable. MSM27C802Z is OTP (one time programmable) and obsolete chip.
I recomend you to use M27C160 and make pin 42 (A19) switchable (connect to ground or connected via resistor to Vcc). You will be able to have 2 OS for your synthesizer (for example old one and updated).

Hi Ezo,
Thank you very much for sharing your wisdom
I am going to use a M27C800 and I am planning to try your M27C160 suggestion, I did not know that this was possible...
Thanks again for building a web site with such valuable information.
