Not able to program AT27C512 with sivava Willem PCB50B
Hi ,
We purchased williem programmer PCB50B for programming AT27C512(PLCC 32) OTP chip.
We tried with a empty fresh chip .We have inserted our chip in the PLCC32 connector.
Initialy we went to "Test Hardware" and it says Hardware present .We loaded our BIN file and then we selected "program" option ". The programmer displayed the progress monitor and it went upto 100% .After that we got the error "At 0x0000 CHIP=0xFF Buffer=0x00" .After programming we read the content of the chip and we came to know that the contents of the chip is entirely different from our orginal BIN file.
Screen shots were attached for your reference.
Is there any jumper settings needed to programme AT27C512?
In the datasheet it is mentioned that the decvice VCC during programming should be 6.5 V
Table 8. Programming Mode DC Characteristics (1)
(TA = 25 °C; VCC = 6.25V ± 0.25V;VPP = 12.75V ± 0.25V)
We are using USB port of the PC as powere supply source for the programmer hardware? From the net I came to know that for the devices with vcc> 5V , externel powersupply is required. If so
What should be the voltage and current settings?
What should be the jumper settings?
Please give us a immediate solution to solve this issue.
Thanks,
Muthu sundaresan

Re: Not able to program AT27C512 with sivava Willem PCB50B
Can you show difference sample (some bytes) from source and from read at the same adress. After that we got the error "At 0x0000 CHIP=0xFF Buffer=0x00" .After programming we read the content of the chip and we came to know that the contents of the chip is entirely different from our orginal BIN file.
Not having acceptable Vcc and Vpp levels some bits in byte are not converted from 1 to 0.
You are able to overwrite chip with source file again.
Be sure jumpers for voltages create Vpp~12.7 and Vcc~5.7 (or 6.2, here difference not so important). Dipswitch, jumper left, two jumperblocks - according picture in SW. Apply PLCC32 socket, not FWH-PLCC32.Is there any jumper settings needed to programme AT27C512?
External power supply 9...14V , current up to 300..500mAWe are using USB port of the PC as powere supply source for the programmer hardware? From the net I came to know that for the devices with vcc> 5V , externel powersupply is required. If so
What should be the voltage and current settings?
Try overwrite with same source file.

Hi Ezo,
Thanks for the quick response. Please find our experiment details
I have attached the diff file.We observed though the programmers progress monitor goes up to 100% ,nothing written in the chip. We take the dump from the chip before and after programming both of them seems to be similar.
Initially we tried with PCB45 (Jumper PCB45<->PCB3B). We measured the voltage level in ICSP port. With PCB45 VPP doesnt go beyond 11.75 Volt . VPP voltage goes to 12.7 Volt only after selecting PCB3B option.
We removed the J8 jumper(5<->5.6 V) so the VCC voltages goes to 6.2Volt.
We have attached a photo . Please let us know if we made any wrong jumper settings
We are facing the same problem ,
1. "At 0x0000 CHIP=0xFF Buffer=0x00" error message displayed by programmer application after 100%
2. Contents of the chip after programming differs from original BIN file.
Please provide some solution to come out from this issue
Thanks,
Muthu sundaresan.

Today we tried with different jumper settings . We used the external power supply .We made changes in J10 accordingly(USB<->VCC)Be sure jumpers for voltages create Vpp~12.7 and Vcc~5.7 (or 6.2, here difference not so important). Re: Not able to program AT27C512 with sivava Willem PCB50B
Ups !
AT27C512 requires PLCC-32/DIP-28 adapter placed in ZIF32 socket !!!
Your jumper settings are correct , Vcc can be +6.2 (jumper removed)
Better measure Vpp at ZIF32/pin1
Note SW 0.97ja apply for pcb3b mode.

It is not available. Mode selection jumpers pcb45/pcb3 cannot change Vpp value. Is not here a voltage drop in time period ? Is it with external power supply ?Initially we tried with PCB45 (Jumper PCB45<->PCB3B). We measured the voltage level in ICSP port. With PCB45 VPP doesnt go beyond 11.75 Volt . Hi,
Thanks for continuous and quick responses.
Providing Pictorial diagram (Photos/connection diagrams) will helpus to get clear details.

Thanks for continuous and quick responses.
What is meant by PLCC-32/DIP-28 adapter ? Is it a extra hardware ? Can you please let us know how to use(connection details) the extra hardware?AT27C512 requires PLCC-32/DIP-28 adapter placed in ZIF32 socket !!!

Yes we tried with external power supply. While using USB as powersupply source VCC voltage doesnt goes beyond 5 Volt.Is it with external power supply ?
We will do that and update the results soon.Better measure Vpp at ZIF32/pin1- Note SW 0.97ja apply for pcb3b mode

You can see sample of adapter B02from Sivava.
Adapter B01 is built-in PCB50

Hi,
We got the same error even when there is no chip on the programmer PLCC32slot After initiating download action programmer software tool displayed progress monitor and it goes up to 100% .After that it displayed the error message "At 0x0000 CHIP=0xFF Buffer=0x00"
Is DIP28/PLCC32 convertor mantadory for programming AT27C512? If so what is the diference between PLCC32 slot provided in the programmer(http://www.sivava.com/buynow.php?pd=A055) itself and DIP28/PLCC32 converter (http://www.sivava.com/buynow.php?pd=B02) ?
It looks both (inbuilt PLCC32 and DIp28/adaptor) are same.Same jumpers ( 3.3 LVP ) also present in the willem PCB-5 programmer.
Can you please let us know the set of harware/software tools required for programming AT27C512?
We measured the VPP and VCC voltages on AT27C512 (PLCC32 socket Pin25 and Pin32) . VPP volatge(pin 25) changes continuously and it is not measurable with multimeter. VCC volatge constantly maintained at 5.6 Volt
Please provide your guidance for programming AT27C512 Eprom with willem5 programmer
Thanks,
Muthu

Hi ,
Can you please confirm whether buing a DIP28/PLCC32 adaptor wil solve our problem? If so we will place orders to buy it immediately[ Sivava B02 plcc 32 to DIP 28 adapter ]..
We are in very urgent need . .
Thanks,
Muthu sundaresan

Re: Not able to program AT27C512 with sivava Willem PCB50B
I can confirm this is way how to program 27C512 on Willem. I can't promise results, but it should be ok.Can you please confirm whether buing a DIP28/PLCC32 adaptor wil solve our problem?
Both PLCC32 adapters looks equal, but have different connections layout. PLCC32/DIP28 has DIP32 base , where pins 1-2, 31-32 are NC. Voltage reductionon adapter normally not used.Is DIP28/PLCC32 convertor mantadory for programming AT27C512? If so what is the diference between PLCC32 slot provided in the programmer(http://www.sivava.com/buynow.php?pd=A055) itself and DIP28/PLCC32 converter (http://www.sivava.com/buynow.php?pd=B02) ?

PLCC32/DIP32 adapter version (all pins used) and programmer built-in versions are equal.
PLCC32 chips difference you can find in my adapters plcc32f1 and plcc32h1 schematics.
Ask author Sivava for user guide. I try help to all willem users for particular problem, my reply experience and knowledge based. Please provide your guidance for programming AT27C512 Eprom with willem5 programmer
